From Local Reports

CANTON TOWNSHIP - Judging by numbers alone, the chances of Plymouth High School registering an historic football victory Friday night didn't look good.

But the digits that mattered most - the ones lit up on the scoreboard at the end of the night, were what counted most.

Plymouth 22, Canton 20.

Plymouth's (3-1) win over the Chiefs (2-2) was the first of its kind in school history.

Canton rolled up 421 yards of total offense compared to Plymouth's 203 while also racking up nine more first downs.

But Myron Puryear ran for two touchdowns, including a 57-yard fourth-quarter dash that closed out the victory.

Jordan Raiford ran for 179 yards, including a 44-touchdown run for Canton.

Whitmore Lake 33, Petersburg Summerfield 20

John Los scored two touchdowns, including on a 26-yard scoring pass from Chase St. Charles as the Trojans (4-0, 2-0 Tri-County Conference) remained unbeaten.

Los also scored on a 15-yard run, part of the 240 yards Whitmore Lake rolled up on the ground.

Manchester 40, Vandercook Lake 23

Justin Welton threw three touchdown passes and ran for two others for the Flying Dutchmen. The TD passes were 24 and 5 yards to Clayton Every and 50 yards to Sam Brown.

Welton scored on TD runs of 15 and 1 yards.

Ty King also scored on a 5-yard run for Manchester, which led 28-13 at halftime.

Sand Creek 36,

Clinton 6

Sand Creek scored on 60- and 40-yard passes in the second quarter for its only completions, and that gave the Aggies the momentum.

"We played real well in the first half,'' Clinton coach Scott McNitt said. "We had good field position and played good defense.

"We had a couple chances and couldn't convert.''

Steve Burton scored on a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter for Clinton (2-2, 1-1 Tri-County Conference). The Aggies are 3-1, 2-0.

Livonia Churchill 48, Salem 0

Anthony Mullins had 13 carries for 42 yards to lead the Rocks (0-4, 0-3 Western Lakes), who trailed 34-0 at halftime. Churchill is 4-0, 3-0.

"We've really got to shore up our special teams and quit making mistakes,'' Salem coach Parker Salowich said.

"The kids are still playing hard, and we're remaining positive.''
