Canton runs over Northville in 42-14 rout

The Canton High School football team grounded Northville's spread offense, and grounded out 513 rushing yards in a 42-14 victory on Friday.

The Chiefs (5-0, 3-0 Western Lakes Activities Association) were led offensively by Chuck Schumacher (124 yards, one touchdown), Julian Smith (116 yards, two TDs) and Shawn Little (101 yards, one TD).

Smith and Schumacher spearheaded the Chiefs' defense. Smith had nine tackles and a pass breakup, and Schumacher had three tackles and a 17-yard interception return.

Other defensive leaders included Jake Powers (seven tackles, one fumble recovery), Matt Sweda (nine tackles) and P.J. Caram (four tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery).

Andy Rossow and DeShon McClendon rounded out Canton's scoring. The Chiefs led 21-0 at halftime.
